In an attempt to remain positive after last night’s game…(I’m still trying to scrub my brain of that painful image)…I have some numbers that could offer some positivity.

In the 2008-09 the Ducks finished with 91 points.  With 66 games played and 16 games remaining in the regular season, the Ducks went 11-4-1 to capture 23 points and the eighth seed in the playoffs.

Before they made that final push for the playoffs, the team had accumulated 31-29-6= 68 points.

In this 2009-10 season, with after 66 games played and only 16 games remaining, the Ducks currently have…68 points.  Their record is eerily similar, 30-28-8. 

So, all hope should not be lost on this season.  Naturally, other teams in the West should be taken into consideration, but remember that last season was a tight race as well. 

Until the numbers are stacked against them…this team still has a chance.
