Thanks so much! I was worried I was too critical of the team - even when they win I usually have a complaint - and other than my "harshness" on Koivu, it does seem pretty accurate.

I did realize that since I posted a mid-term grade, it meant they'd require a final grade as well! I sure hope they continue to improve as we reach that point, lately they've shown that it is possible with these recent wins!

Excellent post!! Very funny, creative, and dead-on. Although, I will agree with Suz that I think you might have been a bit harsh on Saku. Granted, he's one of my favorites, I do notice him doing the little things. He always has energy on the ice, he's not afraid to go into the dirty places, and I love his work on the PK. He has the ability to predict passing lanes and get his stick in there, hence the breakaways he tends to find himself on.

Expectation-wise, we definitely did expect a lot more from him and the group as a whole, however. But I think we just have too many different guys coming from too many different teams to get that chemistry. Also, it doesn't help when Carlyle switches up the lines every two shifts!

Either way, LOVED this post and can't wait for final grades to be posted next semester =)

Spade, Suz...

I would have loved to just put "F-" under Whitney's name and left it at that. I pretty much have ZERO expectations from that guy. Although, if he does anything positive on the ice, I expect he'll rebound with 2 negatives on the next shift. So I suppose I do have some expectations from him, but they're not positive.

I was probably a bit harsh on Koivu. His December improvements washed away a lot of my unhappiness with his early play, but I think we should be expecting more from him.

Overall...we should be expecting more from this group as a whole. That's my biggest disappointment this season, underachievement. Shame on them.

I loved this, a pleasure to read and right on spot, though a little hard on Saku. I think he came here believing in that phantom "chemistry" everyone was anxious to see, but when it was "obviously" not there for whatever reason, he continued to play hard until he carved out a new game plan with a new line. I think his next report card will show great improvement.

Didn't it feel good to write the "F" for Whitney? I bet you wish you could blog with a red Sharpie!

Looks like some of the players are sure to lose their TV privileges after this report card :O
