I couldn't agree more with you on all of those points, Matt.

Believe me, I've been waiting for that 2nd line to show signs of life...waiting waiting waiting

I'm STILL waiting.

As for Niedermayer, while he has been anything but fantastic...he's also having to play 4 defensive roles essentially ALL the time. (as for Wiz and Whitney- neither are thrilling). It's hard to point the finger at the individuals when the whole core is awful. As a fan base- we feared this from the get-go.

I'm just trying to take ANY positive we have...and there are very few. Like I said, the PK is showing signs of life as is the bottom 6, but by no means are they a replacement for offense.

It's going to be a LONG season at this rate. sigh.

At what point to you people start getting on Saku Koivu? The chemistry that he's suppose to have with Selanne has been there at times--but severely lacking at other times. The man only has 6 points in 13 games (only 2 goals). Until he starts clicking with Selanne and producing like a couple of Olympians, the Ducks aren't going to have ANY secondary scoring. Please don't tell me you're going to depend on guys like Mike Brown to score.

The bad part for Ducks fans is that secondary scoring isn't even their biggest problem right now. Giving up 3.5 goals per game isnt going to get it done. Killing 72% of the power plays isnt going to get it done either (2nd worst in the league). The truth is that the Ducks lost 2 of their Top 4 defensemen and their captain... well, looks like he's lost a half a step. Niedermayer is still a very good player-- but for the first tie he's not a GREAT player. When you're trying to replace Pronger and Beauchemin, the Ducks can't account for any regression. Right now, James Wisniewski is competing with Niedermayer as their best defensemen. Go back and read that outloud. THAT is why the Ducks are struggling....
