Last night, the Ducks hosted the Los Angeles Kings in what was the final pre-season game of the year.

Finally.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been waiting for hockey…waiting and waiting and waiting…but it just seems like it’s taken forever for this pre-season to conclude and for the real heart and soul of the season to begin.

For the most part, these last 8 games have just been a tease, a small taste of what is yet to come.  There is no question the Ducks have a quality team, a solid roster and great group of guys, completely capable of performing better than last season.  They also have a team very capable of continuing to take too many penalties.  Let’s hope that this is a trend they nip in the butt immediately.

Likewise, I know it’s only the pre-season, but I’ll have no complaints seeing the Ducks top two lines dominate the scoreboard like they did last night.  The chemistry that has developed on the top line of Bobby Ryan, Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry is undeniable.  I know that there is talk about them being (possibly) the best line in the league.  I’d prefer not to give my honest opinion, so I’ll allow you to make your own judgement on those three…but know that this chick ::points to herself:: has HIGH expectations from that line.

At this point the Ducks have drastically cut their training camp roster (for some of you, it was all too dramatic) and we’re going to soon be seeing the official lineup for the 2009-2010 season.  Last night the Ducks gave fans a great look at what that roster just might look like…and it was nice…really nice.  Unfortunately the Ducks are going to be required to make a few more decisions before the weeks end to get the roster down to 23, which will mean seeing some guys go.

The question now is…who?

Get this season underway already…I’m really getting sick of watching the replays of last year’s cup finals.

GO DUCKS!!!
