2009
The Fedorin Cup at Anaheim Ice was exactly what fans needed. Watching hockey players…good hockey players, laughing, joking, scoring goals, playing the game that they love…the game that we love, the fans love. And in the end, doing it all for a good cause.
It was the simple things that made today’s event so wonderful.
Hearing the puck cling off of the goal posts for the first time in months.
Seeing Teemu Selanne smiling. Constantly. When is that man NOT happy?
Seeing Ducks players of past like Dustin Penner and Sean Pronger (yes, Sean…not Chris).
Watching players of the future like Luca Sbisa and local boy Brian Salcido.
And of course watching the players we all know and love like Bobby Ryan, Mike Brown, Andrew Ebbett and Todd Marchant.
Seeing the players fly up and down the ice scoring goal after goal after goal after goal. But it was more than that…
Sometimes it’s not about the game or the sport or even the competition. Sometimes, it’s just about doing what you love.
Today’s game felt like that. It felt like 30 guys and hundreds of fans doing what they love. All for those that they love.
The NHL season is just around the corner. It’s more than just who’s playing. It’s more than the puck and the crossbar. It’s more than goal after goal.
It’s more than a game.
And I love it.
GO DUCKS!!!
